Manage Your Money Online

Easy Ways to Automate Your Finances

Now you can manage your finances in a few simple steps. Learn how our online and mobile banking services can help you automate tasks, like paying bills online, so you can spend time doing the things that matter.

Manage your money online

Deciding on how to allocate your money—and setting up automatic transfers or bill payments to do it—makes staying on budget easier. The right allocation can be different for each person. Below is an example to help you get started.

Example of a budget allocation for your money:

  • 15% savings
  • 10% retirement (IRA)
  • 30% living expenses
  • 45% bill payments

How to automate your finances

Set up an automatic savings plan

Want to know how to save more money? One easy way is with an automatic savings plan. Here's how it works: first, get an idea of how much you can afford to save each month by making a monthly budget. Then set up a recurring automatic transfer to your savings account that happens a day or two after you get your paycheck. If you have online banking, you can easily set up a recurring transfer. The best part is you'll be saving money without any effort.

Enroll in online Bill Pay

Pay your bills automatically each month by enrolling in online bill payment through Personal Online Banking. Want a tip to make it even easier? Sign up for eBills, a service that sends some of your bills directly to your online banking account so you can see them all in one place. In terms of your budget allocation using our example scenario, bill payments should account for up to 45% and include things like your mortgage, car payment, utilities, credit card payments and other bills.

Manage daily living expenses

In the budget allocation example above, 30% is reserved for living expenses. This money should stay in your checking account to help you pay for daily things like groceries, gas, toiletries, eating out and more. However, everyday spending can be one of the hardest areas to keep on track. Here are a few tips to stay on budget:

  • Enroll for eStatements, which allow you to receive your statements electronically through online banking. You'll have quicker access to reconcile your account and monitor your transactions. Log in to Personal Online Banking to get started.
  • Download the MidFirst Bank Mobile App to monitor your account balances and account activity.
  • Deposit checks on the go using the Mobile Deposit feature within the MidFirst Bank Mobile App.

Timesaving tips for managing your money

Monitor spending with balance alerts

Balance alerts can help you keep track of your living expenses by sending you an email or text when your account balance is at or below a certain threshold. Although this service does not protect you from overdrafts, it can help you stay on budget by letting you know when you're close to overspending.

How to set it up: Log in to Personal Online Banking > go to the Customer Service menu > select Manage Alerts > set your alert preferences.

Pay on the go from your phone

  • Apple Pay®, Google Pay™ and Samsung Pay: Make purchases using just your phone when you add your MidFirst Bank debit or credit card to your eligible Apple®, Android™ or Samsung mobile device.
  • Zelle®: Pay your family and friends straight from the MidFirst Bank Mobile App when you set up Zelle.
